Just what is Inclusive Leadership anyway? Jenny Harrison will be running an open course on 8 November and will help you define what it means to you, so that you can articulate it in a meaningful way to the people you influence and impact. Inclusion doesn’t happen on its own and it doesn’t happen just because you want it to! But what we do know is that even when your intention is positive, obstacles get in the way of you translating that intent into positive impact. Diverse teams typically perform better than teams full of people like you but leading a diverse team can be challenging – you have to do something with that diversity to maximise the range of different voices and talents! You can be knocked you off course. This has a lot to do with our unconscious biases and how they can impact every aspect of our workplace decision making.

Who do you chat to longest on a Monday morning? Who did you sit next to at the last internal meeting? What factors led you to delegate that last piece of work to a particular person?

This short interactive session challenges you to explore how your routine and social decision making impacts your critical workplace decisions and leadership communication style. At byrne·dean we believe that whilst unconscious bias training is incredibly fascinating for all, the danger is that you leave the training room just as perplexed as when you entered it because you don’t know what to do with the knowledge of your biases once you’ve surfaced them. Come along to this open course and get some practical and tangible tools on how to move inclusion forward from an aspiration into a reality.
