Managing within UK law

This is where it all started (although over the last decade it’s developed a bit).

A session for line managers - Managing within the law has at its core our analysis of how employment problems develop, how they are fanned by typical management behaviours and the types of inclusive, proactive management that can possibly avoid the problems and at the same time build a productive, supportive environment.  We have developed some very powerful, memorable models that managers can and do use in their day-to-day working lives.

Legal concepts that managers should understand such as discrimination, harassment and unfair dismissal, are brought out using relevant case studies.  Each case study is devised to illustrate some of the pressing problems facing managers in the organisation.  Delegates will be discussing how to manage poor performance and what to do when an employee raises an issue with you, rather than the definition of unfair dismissal as it appears in the legislation!   They go away with something they can use.

The session works best with a group of perhaps 12 – 20 managers.
