I passionately believe that everyone sets out to do their job to the best of their ability and with positive intent, no matter how it might seem to those around them. I’m equally certain that ‘perception is reality’ and that, whatever the intent, everyone can (and often does) have an impact on others that seems negative or results in a judgement that they aren’t doing their job at anywhere near a level that can be described as ‘best’.

Between the two is the opportunity for great misunderstanding and I have spent the majority of my career working with people to help bridge the gap and resolve these misunderstandings – to help them explore each other’s’ intention & impact in order to understand it and hopefully learn how to be more mindful of the latter next time.

I do this mainly through what I call gentle challenge – posing questions which can generate insight without criticism and by using humour/self-disclosure in order to create a safe space for learning.  My style is facilitative, warm and engaging and I use emotional intelligence and strong communication skills honed over 22 years of leadership development, facilitation and coaching.
