With over 20 years’ experience resolving workplace disputes - as a private practice employment lawyer, as in-house employment counsel and as an Employee Relations specialist - I am calm and insightful in the face of challenging situations and willing to commit to conclusions and recommendations, even where difficult, whilst ensuring dignity, fairness and respect for all involved.
Many years of practising law has made it clear in my mind that when disputes go “Legal”, in all likelihood control will have been lost and an effective solution to the issue will no longer be attainable. The most likely way in which relationships can be rebuilt and those involved can focus again on achieving success for their business, are where effective dispute resolution strategies can be adopted. This may be through mediation, other dispute resolution or through fair investigative processes in order to deliver a kinder, fairer and more productive workplace. Many years working in the banking environment have taught me that by applying these principles, it is possible to achieve effective solutions with minimum disruption, whilst maintaining confidence of those directly affected and the broader employee population.
My most recent experience was leading a team of Employee Relations specialists across Europe Middle-East & Africa at a major US bank. During my time, I managed the resolution of the most diverse range of disputes, including the seemingly unresolvable.
I now bring my extensive experience to byrne·dean, where we are uniquely positioned through our team of highly specialist associates to resolve any issues that may arise in the workplace. As a team, we have particular interest and experience in resolving high profile and high sensitivity cases involving issues including sexual harassment, other forms of discrimination, victimisation and retaliation, and bullying and harassment. We also conduct “culture reviews” and other investigations that require definitive conclusions around wrongdoing, and recommendations around how to improve the working environment.
