Emma Jelley

Do you love to see kindness, consideration and respect in action in the workplace? I do. I’ve experienced it first hand, thrived in such environments and am driven to enable others to experience it too. It is a joy to do this through my work as a Principal Consultant at Byrne Dean.  

At Byrne Dean I deliver 1:1 thought partnership (coaching), training, facilitation and advisory services. My passion areas are inclusive leadership, creating psychologically safe spaces, collaboration and community. I have delivered programmes and interventions on these and related topics across multiple sectors, from professional services to tech, FMCG to non-profit.  

The first 19 years of my career were in the law. Starting in a large international law firm, I moved to in-house roles in the tech industry: General Counsel for UK & Ireland at Google, and General Counsel for an AI-powered scale-up in London. These experiences fuel my empathy for people working in environments where standards of professionalism, and the velocity of change, are high. I have worked in hierarchical working environments as well as matrixed “flat” organisations. With these experiences and related learning in my pocket, it felt natural to move from human-centered lawyering, to simply centering on the human.  

These days you will find me living in Finland, coaching and facilitating internationally either on-line or in person. Having moved here from London in 2018, I enjoy a multi-cultural life with English, Finnish and French being spoken at home.  

I am always learning something new, whether it is facilitating conversations with the Lego® Serious Play® method or treading the boards in improv theater. Exploring different worlds, meeting new people, and listening with curiosity and respect, enables me to bring a courageous, multi-disciplinary approach to projects and conversations.
