Dr Justin Spray

At the heart of my work is a passion for enabling individuals to exercise their power to make choices and influence outcomes. Whether facilitating mediation, advising on organisational change, or coaching individuals through challenges, I bring clarity, impartiality and a calm presence.

My background spans three decades as a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and accredited mediator, working across community and organisational settings. I have mediated in challenging environments, addressing power imbalances and supporting individuals with diverse needs, from the frontline to senior leadership. I have also designed and delivered accredited workplace mediation training, embedding effective conflict resolution skills within organisations.

As founder of Mendas, an occupational psychology and HR consultancy, I have worked with organisations as varied as Jaguar Land Rover, Amnesty International, the Ministry of Defence, and the Financial Services Authority. Projects have ranged from large-scale government recruitment and senior leadership development to sensitive cultural change work and wellbeing initiatives. This breadth of experience means I understand both organisational imperatives and the human realities that drive conflict and cooperation.

I have a practical and grounded understanding of business from diverse perspectives: business owner, manager, employer and employee. I couple this with a psychologically informed, structured, and empathetic approach to mediation, conflict resolution, and organisational consultancy. My grounding in occupational psychology, postgraduate training in conflict resolution and doctoral research into communication and kindness enables me to balance analytical rigour with emotional intelligence.

I am adept at uncovering root causes, managing difficult conversations, and creating safe spaces where people feel heard and respected. I believe that even in the most difficult circumstances, there is an opportunity to foster understanding, strengthen relationships, and create conditions for people and organisations to thrive.
