We are running an open Mental Health First Aid course in central London on 5 and 6 December 2016. Mental health first aiders are a key resource for any organisation looking to develop a coherent mental health and wellbeing strategy. Based on the concept of physical first aiders, the popular two day course (accredited by MHFAE) equips delegates to have the knowledge and confidence to approach issues in the workplace and elsewhere, understand what may be happening, assess the situation, provide reassurance, listen non judgmentally and help the person towards self and/or professional help.
The price for attendance is £495 plus VAT per person. This covers materials and certification. The second and any further attendees from the same organisation benefit from a reduced price of £450 plus VAT each.
The course will be facilitated by Richard Martin, an MHFAE accredited trainer. Richard was a city lawyer for 20 years before his only mental health problems. He brings a wealth of experience and insight to the course material.

The theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day, observed on 10 October, covers “psychological first aid”. Efforts in support of the day will focus on basic pragmatic psychological support by people who find themselves in a helping role whether they be health staff, teachers, firemen, community workers, or police officers.
